Stumbled upon a nifty 1950s diner called Mido Café (63 Temple St., Yau Ma Tei) that’s worth a stop if you’re jonesing for a snack on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. The yuanyang (coffee mixed with tea), deep fried french toast, and toast loaded with condensed milk and peanut butter were my personal faves. (Avoid the cold, soggy egg sandwiches at all cost - they were the biggest disappointment of my trip to Hong Kong.) I snagged a seat on the second floor so that I could scope the action at the Tin Hau Temple and the outdoor mahjong tables across the street.
